This was also the case in Great Britain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pre-decimal coin denominations were as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>one farthing (in Irish feoirling)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>half penny (leath phingin)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>penny (pingin)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>three pence (leath reul)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>sixpence (reul)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>shilling (scilling)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>florin (fl&oacute;ir&iacute;n)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>half crown (leathchor&oacute;in)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What currency is used in Northern Ireland?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.letsgoireland.com\/is-ireland-part-of-the-uk\/\">Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom<\/a> (officially: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The currency used in Northern Ireland is the British Pound or Pound Sterling.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Northern Ireland Currency<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The official currency of Northern Ireland is Pound Sterling, but sometimes around the border area it is also possible to pay in Euro.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is not always possible, so don&rsquo;t count on it being possible in all cases.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are only passing through Northern Ireland for a short time, withdrawing Pound Sterling is usually not worth it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On a road trip through the north of the island you can withdraw pounds with your credit card at many ATMs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> A few banks in Northern Ireland legally print their own banknotes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These often have a different design than the banknotes in e.g. England.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The value is the same.
