Weather in Ireland in April
Spring in Ireland is a pleasant time and the month of April is no exception. The April showers are a welcomed respite from several months of greyer, wintery weather. While you can still experience a taste of all seasons in a day, the weather generally tends to be a bit more settled at this time of the year.

Wind in Ireland in April
April is not one of the windiest months in Ireland. The winter gales are usually well over by the time April arrives, which heralds generally calmer conditions.
Often the winds come from an easterly direction at this time of year and are frequently drier than the usual south-westerly winds that blow over the Atlantic Ocean.
Wind speeds vary considerably across the country, but are typically about 8-14 km per hour (ca. 10 km per hour). Be prepared for anything from a fresh breeze to a strong gust, particularly in coastal areas along the Wild Atlantic Way (watch out on cliff tops!)

Visiting Ireland in April
April is one of my favorite months in Ireland and I can easily recommend travelling to Ireland during this time. There are several clear benefits associated with going to Ireland around this time of the year.
Firstly, the average weather in Ireland in April is likely to be some of the most pleasant that you might encounter during the entire year. There are no guarantees with Irish weather of course, but regardless, spring is a lovely time to be in Ireland.
The days are getting longer and warmer, so you can pack in some more sightseeing each day. An Ireland tour by bus or even your own individual road trip is a good way to get out and explore the country at this time of year.
It is a lovely time to visit the Ring of Kerry in County Kerry for example or explore some day trips from Cork.
The high season tourist crowds haven’t yet arrived so you can enjoy some of the bigger highlights and attractions without the crowds, queues and traffic.
Of course, if you travel in mid-season you also have a better chance of good deals on flights (especially on long haul flights from the United States). There will also be more accommodation options available ranging from the basic hostels to luxury castle hotels than during the peak season months.
Don’t worry, even in April, there will still be enough of a buzz to experience good Irish music in the pub though and even attend a great food festival or music festival!
